GREEN STUDIES PROFITS FOCUS

-

A BURLEIGH training college is filling a worldwide gap for staff who specialise in making a business’s environmental benefits help its bottom line.

Envirotech is one of only three educational institutions that offers a Diploma of Sustainable Operations and now has a specific focus on combining Sustainability with Technology.

Sustainable Operations teacher Roberta Beltaro said more businesses were seeking out sustainability managers to reduce costs and protect the environment.

“The creation of ecological villages, the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and public demands for socially responsible corporate behaviour are driving demand for sustainability managers,” she said.

“It’s not just the big multinational companies that employ sustainability managers, it’s also local councils, higher education providers, businesses in construction, hospitality, clothing, tourism and more.

“Large multinational public companies use environmental reporting in a way which increases the overall business value on the stock market.

Businesses want to save money by figuring out how they can re-use materials, reduce their waste to save the environment, increase their competitive advantage and win popular public appeal.”

A good sustainability manager can earn upwards of $112,000 a year.

Envirotech Education was established in 2008 for domestic and international students.

It has campuses on the Gold Coast at Goodwin Tce, Burleigh Heads and at Childe St, Byron Bay.
