Shots first reportedly heard as country singer Jason Aldean was playing near the end of the concert at the Route 91 Harvest festival. Police later confirmed the shooter was on Level 32 of the nearby Mandalay Hotel, shooting down into the concert crowd.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department tweeted confirmation it was “investigating reports of an active shooter near/ around Mandalay Bay Casino. Asking everyone to please avoid the area.” SITE OF THE ROUTE 91 HARVEST COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL

Las Vegas police tweet to confirm one suspect was dead. “Confirming that one suspect is down. This is an active investigation. Again, please do not head down to the Strip at this time.” The lone shooter was a Las Vegas resident and was killed on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Hotel.

Las Vegas police tweet to confirm they believe all shooters have been found. “At this time we do not believe there are any more shooters. More information to come shortly from @Sheriff_LVMPD”. . 1.13am..

A Southern California police department confirmed one of its off-duty officers was shot during the attack. Several officers from the Bakersfield Police Department were attending the festival. One was shot and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police hold a media briefing and confirm the lone shooter, from Las Vegas, was dead. More than 50 people were confirmed dead and more than 200 injured.
