Filly shows the Exfactor for tilt at Magic Millions

-

MISS Exfactor’s unbeaten record on the Gold Coast track has trainer Tony Gollan looking at Magic Millions riches.

A return to a softish track helped Miss Exfactor win the Three-Year-Old Handicap (1200m) on Saturday and take her record to two wins from two starts on the Coast.

At her previous outing Miss Exfactor was an odds-on favourite but missed the start when third to Colisimo and Adoradancer at Ipswich on September 23.

“We have worked on her barrier manners and she was a lot better today,” Gollan said.

“But the big difference was the rain this week, which left the track soft.

“I will probably give her an ease up and bring her back for races over the Magic Millions carnival, as she is unbeaten on the Gold Coast track.”

On Saturday, Miss Exfactor ($4.40) turned the tables on Colisimo ($3.50), who finished second.

Chris Munce’s reputation as as a top juvenile conditioner was confirmed once again when Pony Power won at the Gold Coast.

Backed from $4.80 into $3.80, Pony Power finished too strongly to beat Lady McCabe ($17) by a head with a short neck to Aetherius ($41) in the Vilis Family Bakery Plate (900m).

Munce won both divisions of the opening metropolitan two-year-old races last season with Ours To Keep and Champ Elect.

He did not have a runner in the colts and geldings division on Saturday but Pony Power kept his record intact.

Pony Power, a filly by former top sprinter Foxwedge, cost $100,000 when bought at the Magic Millions sales this year.

“She picked up $40,000 today so it takes a lot of the pressure off us to qualify for the Millions,” Munce said.

“I have a couple of others for the Millions who go OK and I am looking forward to the two-year-old season.”
