Lloyd to manage his own bookings
JOCKEY Jeff Lloyd has made the decision to part ways with his manager Cameron Partington and from next week will now be booking his own rides.
The Gold Coast-based Lloyd joined Partington two seasons ago and in one of sport’s most remarkable comebacks, he worked his way back to the top of the riding ranks, winning the past two Brisbane metropolitan premierships, including a record last season.
Lloyd said there had been no falling out but he had been contemplating the self-booking role for some time.
“I always did my own rides in Hong Kong and I enjoy doing it,” Lloyd said.
Partington said he was disappointed Lloyd had made the call to move on.
“Jeff feels he’s missing opportunities, particularly at the provincial meetings and feels he can do a better job chasing those rides himself,” he said.
“I would have loved to have been with Jeff to the end of his career but I look back with a huge amount of satisfaction of what he was able to achieve during his time with us.”
