THOR BLIMEY
STARS DAZZLE AT PREMIERE
THE smiles said it all. The Australian stars of Thor: Ragnarok knew they were on to a winner before they hit the red carpet at the world premiere of Marvel’s latest blockbuster in Los Angeles.
Early predictions are that the Gold Coast-shot film will smash box office takings, with many critics and media already declaring it the best of the three Thor films.
Cate Blanchett dazzled in a knockout gold-sequined dress, looking unrecognisable from her role as Hela, the Asgardian Goddess of Death.
Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, appeared restrained as he posed for photos on the red carpet, accompanied by wife Elsa Pataky.
The duo were almost usurped by brother Liam Hemsworth and his girlfriend, singer Miley Cyrus, with the couple making a rare public appearance.
It’s a tight turnaround for Chris, who now calls Byron Bay home, jetting back to Queensland for the film’s Australian premiere at the Gold Coast tomorrow.
He’s expected to walk the red carpet at Event Cinemas Robina with director Taika Waititi and executive producer Brad Winderbaum.
Co-star Mark Ruffalo, who reprises his dual roles as Bruce Banner and The Hulk, is slated to attend Sydney’s screening on Sunday.
Official reviews are under embargo until October 20 but US critics attending an advanced screening have heaped praise on the film on social media.
Thor: Ragnarok opens nationally on October 26.
