Pimpama’s new $100m shopping mall

Property veteran Norm Rix expects the welcome mat to be out in January for the first customers to his biggest venture in a 60-year career, the $100 million Pimpama City shopping centre. The developer yesterday said that he was determined to make the district centre “something really special” but that it would not be his swan song. “I know I’m running out of time at 82 so it’s full steam ahead with Pimpama City,” he said.

Surfers snow park opens in weeks

Get ready to hit the ski slopes of Surfers Paradise within a month. Operators of the Gold Coast’s first outdoor ski park expect to open in Mid-November as they await the arrival of the artificial material which will form the slopes. “We have been really flat out the past few weeks getting things going and we have already seen the arrow tag operating and cafe open,” said Snow Parks Australia general manager Matt McCulloch.

A Broadbeach fitness guru has amassed a 28,000-strong army of Instagram followers by deciding to show her true self on social media — warts and all. Asha Burnley, 28, said attempting to portray a life of perfection put her under too much pressure, so she decided to stop. “I’ve always been fit and healthy but I definitely come across my own personal struggles with body image,” she said. “Now when I eat chocolate or have a drink I’ll show it.”
