Star mares to clash again

-

SYDNEY’S glamour mares Dixie Blossoms and Daysee Doom will renew their keen rivals in the Group 3 The Nivison (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Trainer Ron Quinton confirmed his two stars mares will clash for the fifth time with Daysee Doom holding a 3-1 advantage.

Dixie Blossoms finally got the better of her stablemate when they ran the quinella in the Group 3 Angst Stakes at Randwick two weeks ago.

This was a reversal of the placings from their previous clash in the Group 2 Goldent Pendant when Daysee Doom won narrowly.

“Both mares need another race before they go into the (Group 1) Myer Classic at Flemington on Derby Day (November 4),’’ Quinton said.

“I thought about the Tristarc Stakes at Caulfield but I was worried if they drew wide from the 1400m start there, that it would be very difficult for them.

“So, they will stay home this week and all we need to do is walk them down the hill and then have their final race before they go to Melbourne for the Myer.’’

Quinton’s duo are among 21 entries for The Nivison that also includes Heavens Above, Ghisoni, Nancy, Zestful, Diddums, Spright, Zumbelina, White Moss and Slow Burn, the latter also an acceptor for Canterbury tomorrow.

TRAINER Gerald Ryan has revealed brilliant colt Menari has had a throat tie-back operation and will not race again this spring.
