YOUR VIEWS ON M1 CHAOS

This is why people need to voice their option to government. It’s a disgrace how the region has been treated. I have just travelled from Robina up the M1, onto the Logan Motorway and then onto the Warrego Hwy. What should normally take 95min to my destination has taken me 2.5hrs.

Politics is what has stopped a second M1 — a pox on both Labor and LNP, both are as guilty as the other in stonewalling over the years the building of a second motorway. These people need to be reminded that their mandate in government is to build infrastructure and take care of education and health — everything else is secondary!

Back in the late 80s we said the Logan, Gateway and M1 should be four lanes each way with room for more lanes. And at that time we were told it would cost too much. Seems like a small price to pay now.

My eyes can’t water anymore than they already do sitting in current M1 traffic. So spend away.

Just do it (build a second M1) and ease the pain for motorists! It’s only going to get more congested ...

This useless government should prioritise the needs of citizens. Second highway is what we actually need in between Gold Coast and Brisbane, not a second casino or cruise terminal!

Wayne Goss proposed a duplication when he was in office but the opposition stopped it. We have suffered travelling that M1 every day, every government, ever since!

How about if you work in Brisbane you live there. Another suggestion, get on public transport! Why would we build more roads for more cars? Spend the money improving public transport.

More highways is not the answer better public transport is. Fast trains every ten minutes from the Coast.

How bout having consistent safety messages on tv and radio and social media, teaching people to drive better.
