NEW HOME BREWING FOR STONE & WOOD

- KATHLEEN SKENE kathleen.skene@news.com.au

BELOVED Byron Bay brewers Stone & Wood have broken ground on a third site, as the company continues to grow in scale and popularity.

The purpose-built brewery and office space, designed by Harley Graham Architects and on Ewingsdale Rd at Byron, would eventually replace the company’s two facilities at Murwillumbah and Boronia Place.

Managing director Ben Summons said the independent brewer was committed to staying and investing in the Northern Rivers community.

“We’re proud to be in the position to contribute to the region’s economic growth and support local employment,” he said.

“Byron Bay is Stone & Wood’s birthplace and spiritual home, we’re excited to start construction and see the site take shape.”

Visitors will still be able to tour the brewery and try the beers in the new facility, which will be built in stages.

Co-founder Ross Jurisich said the original site in the Byron Arts and Industrial Estate had evolved with the demands of the business but with a growing team and more visitors, a move was inevitable.

“We brew all of our beer on-site here and up the road in Murwillumbah, and as the original brewers of Byron Bay, we want to share that experience and our story with the visitors who seek us out,” he said.

Stone & Wood was founded nine years ago by three friends Brad Rogers, Jamie Cook and Ross Jurisich.
