THIS is a bizarre situation where, because of the job of the Premier’s partner, there are potentially thousands of jobs at risk in North Queensland. The Labor Party is more focused on internal divisions and not on people’s lives and jobs.

Until the Premier’s media statement, I was unaware of any such allegations. The Premier is apparently running a government based on rumour and innuendo.

The Queensland Labor Government has been all over the shop on Adani. Last year, they wrote to the Commonwealth Government suggesting that we look at funding the Adani rail line through the NAIF.

Then, in May this year, the Deputy Premier, Jackie Trad, said the Labor Government wouldn’t participate in any NAIF loan to the Adani project, which would effectively block federal funding. The next day Curtis Pitt contradicted her, saying the Labor Government’s position was to support Adani being funded by NAIF.

This is a circus, and it puts thousands of jobs and businesses at risk.

The Premier is incorrect in suggesting the Federal Government can fund a NAIF project without the co-operation of the State. MATT CANAVAN, MINISTER FOR RESOURCES AND NORTHERN AUSTRALIA THE Adani scandal shows the political system is rotten to the core and we need to clear it out.

This is what happens when the Greens are breathing down the necks of the two major parties. This is what happens when people unite against big corporations and the politicians who protect them.

Remember this is not end of the Adani. Just a crack in Labor’s support for coal billionaires.

If Labor were serious they’d revoke the mining licence and Adani’s $300 million tax break.

This is what happens when the Greens can win. This is why the Greens will win seats in parliament.

Now we have three weeks to fight for a future for all of us.

SO the Premier is whining about some rumour that her partner is being attacked by the LNP and she will veto some Adarni loan. What a hypocrite she is! I remember how the ALP did a hatchet job on Newman and his family when he was the LNP candidate for the seat of Ashgrove.

Labor needs to suck it up because they introduced this character assassination warfare into Queensland politics. ROBERT S. BUICK, MOUNTAIN CREEK WHEN something as trivial as the dual citizenship fiasco threatens to undermine the government of Australia, surely it’s time for commonsense to prevail and waive this inane prerequisite to be a member of parliament. Just how does dual citizenship affect the ability and loyalty of persons to act on behalf of their constituents in the best possible manner? Is it regarded as nation building to make a mountain out of a molehill? KEN JOHNSTON, ROCHEDALE SOUTH
