A GOLD Coast man wants $250,000 out of the Star casino after he allegedly slipped and fell while trying to get money out of a card machine.

Tahir Cemil Ozturk, 66, has lodged a statement of claim in the Southport District Court against The Star Entertainment Queensland Limited, seeking $259,347.38 in damages.

The Carrara man claims he walked from the gaming area to the ATM at Star’s Broadbeach casino about 6.20pm on May 11, 2016 and fell backwards on a wet tiled floor.

As a result, Mr Ozturk allegedly suffered ligament injuries to his spine and softtissue injures to his left shoulder and knee.

Mr Ozturk is seeking $5200 for property refurbishments to his Carrara home, alleging he “required assistance with garden maintenance and home renovation work which otherwise would have been performed by him” following the accident.

The sum includes paying a contractor $25 per hour for home renovations.

Mr Ozturk required physiotherapy for the injury, the claim states. He is also requesting more than $21,000 for pain and suffering.

He alleges a casino employee was cleaning a machine nearby at the time of the accident and they should have known or ought to have known the tiled area may have become slippery and pose a risk of injury.

The Star Entertainment Qld Limited is yet to lodge a defence.

Mr Ozturk is believed to have made a confidential offer to settle the matter.
