Mall’s Games facelift
Upgrades kickstart renewal
CHEVRON Renaissance Shopping Centre owner Precision Group has embarked on a $5.5 million refurbishment of the shopping centre ahead of next year’s Commonwealth Games.
Centre manager Gerard Coorey said the works, which include a 6m by 4m smart screen equipped with facial recognition technology, are part of a long-term investment strategy to “revitalise” the mall over the next 12 to 18 months.
“Chevron Renaissance has emerged as a striking example of a modern lifestyle development, combining urban style with a breezy appeal in keeping with our beachside location,” Mr Coorey said.
“Already, the centre has taken on a dynamic new life as a contemporary hub for our community to meet and enjoy shopping and alfresco dining along with a full range of services.” A digital billboard – which measures audience engagement in what Precision calls an “Australian first” – has been erected at the Surfers Paradise Blvd entrance and shade sails have been installed at the northern and southern entrances.
Property investment firm Precision Group bought Chevron Renaissance for $75 million in 2015. It has carried out extensive renovations to attract new retail, office and food businesses.
As a result occupancy for its 4000 sqm of office space has exceeded 95 per cent this year after attracting tenants including light rail operator GoldLinQ, education provider Entrepreneur Education and travel and tourism business H.I.S Australia.
Food businesses to open at the centre included Betty’s Burgers, Cuban-inspired outlet El Patio de Cuba and Malaysian eatery PappaRich, which began operating from the centre last month.
Fit-outs are underway for Violet & Moss Homewares and Asian supermarket Yifan Asian Emporium.
