MICK Fanning was among the surfing hordes having a swell time as pumping waves pounded the Gold Coast yesterday.
The three-time world champion hit his home break of Snapper Rocks, jostling for waves with hundreds of other boardriders.
Onlookers said he arrived at the beach in his Mercedes 4WD with a female companion, who soaked up the sun on the beach while Fanning surfed.
Fanning’s eight-year marriage to swimwear model turned wedding stylist Karissa Dalton ended in 2015, during a tumultuous year when he was attacked by a shark in South Africa and his older brother, Peter, died.
Fanning is preparing to head to Hawaii for the World Surf League’s seasonending Pipeline Masters.
The world title will be decided at Pipe but the Gold Coast star is not in contention this year.
