St Francis Xavier student Mia Maratos may only be in Year 6, but she’s a coding pro. Here is her list of the 10 best programs you can use for coding.

1 SCRATCH

Scratch is one of the easiest programs to use. It allows you to change your thinking by being more creative, and you can come up with your own interactiv­e games. 2 PYTHON Python is a general coding program created in the late 1980s. It’s used by thousands of people to create things like games and computer systems.

3 HTML

HTML is the standard coding language for makiing websiites,, web appllicati­ons and more.. There are many modern phones and apps created wiith HTML code..

4 CSS

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is what makes your website or web page visually interestin­g. It codes the background, font and more.

5 JAVA

Java Script is a coding language from Microsoft that is specifical­ly designed to create applicatio­ns on your computer. It is also used to create games like Minecraft and Runescape.

6 C++

C++ is a general-purpose programmin­g language. As a matter of fact some very famous apps such as Google, Microsoft and even parts of apple are coded in C++.

7 M.E.A.N

M.E.A.N is a user-friendly coding program ideal for building modern and efficient websites and apps. It is quick and easy to create in.

8 RUBY ON RAILS

Ruby on Rails is a server-side, web applicatio­n which helps to build websites and apps. Personally, I would suggest choosing one of the easier programs if you’re a beginner.

9 iOS SWIFT

iOS Swift is a fantastic way to write software for anything; phones, computers or any programs that run code. I recommend ages 15 and up.

10 PHP

PHP is a general purpose scripting language that includes the code of HTML but is slightly different. It is usually used to create lively, web page content or energetic images used on websites and more.
