CHEFS’ IMAGINATIVE CONTEST
The competition is bound to heat up today when commercial cookery students vie for the Imagine Education’s first MasterChef crown GOLD Coast restaurateur and chef Daniel Ridgeway is set to judge Imagine Education Australia’s inaugural Student Cooking Competition today.
Eleven commercial cookery students will battle it out at the organisation’s new state-of-theart
purpose-built training kitchen in Ashmore. They will by vying for the title of Imagine Education’s first ‘MasterChef’.
Ondrej Zmolek, 33, from the Czech Republic said he started cooking at age 16.
“I started at a hotel school in Marianske Lazne, which is spa town in the Karlovy Vary region of the Czech Republic,” he said.
“I am so excited for the upcoming MasterChef competition … without a doubt my favourite meal is a delicious beef sirloin with Czech-style dumplings.”
Korean student Mi Na Park, 33, is among the students who will go up against Mr Zmolek in today’s competition.
“I see the competition as a great challenge and very good experience for me to work under pressure,” she said.
“I started cooking with my mother at home when I was about nine years old, but I first started cooking in restaurants when I came to Australia last year. I have loved every minute of my professional experience so far.
“My favourite meal is an eye fillet steak with a delicious homemade sauce so I would love to see a delicious cut of beef in the mystery box.
“There is so much you can do with beef and it is my favourite meal after all.”
Imagine Education offers a range of courses across its Gold Coast campuses in Ashmore and Southport.
