Aussies have T20 challenge

-

AUSTRALIA’S women’s cricket team are desperate to start delivering in a format that has troubled them most the past few years – Twenty20.

The Aussies are out to end a 27-month series-winning drought in the 20-over game when they play England in Canberra tonight.

Australia went down to the West Indies by eight wickets in the World T20 final last year and they haven’t won a series since August 2015 when they defeated Ireland.

A win tonight will not only give Australia a 10-6 Ashes points win and the T20 series but there will be a confidence booster for the long term, too.

“It’s a really great challenge,” Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry (pictured) said.

She said consistency in the format was one of the team’s main challenges.

Australia failed to clinch the Ashes series win on Sunday when they fell 40 runs short of England’s target.
