Man hurt in horror drill accident

-

A MAN was in a stable condition in hospital yesterday after impaling his groin on a power tool.

Queensland Fire and Rescue had to cut the 42-year-old man free from a hammer drill which was lodged 5cm into his groin.

The man was working at Village Roadshow film studios in Oxenford when he became impaled on the drill at 8.10am.

The drill bit had to be cut from the worker’s body before he could be freed and taken to hospital.

The injured man was an external contractor working at the movie studios, where Aquaman recently completed filming.

He was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Queensland Ambulance Service Operations Supervisor Paul Young said freeing the man from the drill was a difficult operation.

“Fire and Rescue assisted by cutting the drill bit that took quite some time to get through,” Mr Young said.

Workplace health and safety Queensland are investigating the incident.
