LOCAL LEGENDS

-

Gutless vandals who targeted Paradise Point Meals on Wheels have been thwarted thanks to the generous donation of a local family business.

Longtime meals on Wheels volunteer Denise Connolly, who together with her husband Phil started Newhaven Funerals in 1979, approached her adult children Libby, Beccy and Tim who now run the business to see if they could help.

Tim Connolly said staff were only too happy to assist.

“Newhaven Funerals and their team commit each fortnight to a fund whereby staff contribute a portion of their wages, which the company matches dollar for dollar and then distributes to meaningful organisations,” Mr Connolly said.

“With the help of OzSpy Ashmore we were able to install a surveillance system which provides a visible deterrent and a 24/7 recording of vandals caught in the act.”

Meals on Wheels was overwhelmed by the support and thanked the Newhaven Funerals team at a morning tea last week.
