TRACK THE BATON’S JOURNEY
PEOPLE can now see where the Queen’s Baton Relay will travel, which streets will be lined with people and the celebration dates to mark in their calendars.
The GC2018 Queen’s Baton will make its first appearance on the Gold Coast in January at the Magic Millions Barrier Draw, before visiting Springbrook National Park and taking in views of the city from the top of Q1.
After travelling the length and breadth of Australia, it will be back on the Coast in relay mode on April 1 for an action-packed final four days in the host city, where it will be carried by hundreds of local batonbearers.
From the hinterland to the beaches, the entire Gold Coast will be showcased in the QBR before it arrives at the April 4 Opening Ceremony, where Her Majesty’s message will be read aloud to declare the Games open.
