Mobility at forefront
GOLD Coast Tourism is pushing for the city to become more user friendly for people with disabilities and any mobility impairment such as dealing with a child’s pram.
This morning the city marketing body hosts the launch of its Inclusive & Accessible Tourism Initiative in front of 40 tourism operators attending the first workshop.
It is aimed at championing guest experiences ahead of the Commonwealth Games in April when 300 para-athletes will be in the city.
“There is an urgency for the city to provide products and services that ensure people of all abilities feel welcome as guests, underpinned by a commitment to equality and inclusion.”
A Gold Coast Tourism spokesperson said it wasn’t just about wheelchair access but making it easier for anyone impaired – whether pushing a pram, with a broken leg or any other issue.
