Tenants lining up for new complex

- PHIL BARTSCH

TENANTS are already diving into an emerging new beachside retail and commercial precinct just south of the Gold Coast.

Six leasing deals have already been struck at The Commons, which is under construction in the popular coastal town of Casuarina and due for completion in February.

It is being developed by childcare industry entrepreneur Bruce Coulson in the heart of Casuarina, opposite a Coles supermarket.

The complex will offer 12 food, medical, health and general retail services to local residents as well as a childcare centre with 175 places. Rates of $650sq m have been advertised.

Marketing agents Kelly Buxton and Luke McGrath, of Colliers International, said the six leasing deals negotiated so far were for tenancies from 40sq m to 227sq m and leasing terms of five to 10 years.

The tenants include licensed cafe and coffee roaster Blackboard Coffee, smokehouse and bar The Crafty Cow, fashion boutique Nikkou, a child psychologist, speech therapist, chiropractor and F45 training studio.

The owners of The Crafty Cow are two couples that will be relocating their families from Brisbane to Casuarina to indulge their passion for food.

Ms Buxton said the remaining tenancies within the centre range in size from 41sq m to 147sq m and would suit fast food operators, general retail, a real estate agency, medical centre, dentist or another health practitioner.

“It is great to see a mixture of local first-time operators, existing business owners as well as national brands such as F45 committing to the space within the centre for a long term,” she said.

Ms Buxton said the catchment area for the retail and commercial complex included about 24,000 residents – consisting of mostly retirees and young families.
