Byron rangers menaced

A VICTORIAN man has been charged after threatening two Byron Bay rangers who were patrolling for illegal camping.

About 8am last Tuesday, two Byron Shire Council rangers were attending Cowper St in Byron Bay after reports of illegal campers.

Police allege the rangers spoke to a Frankston man, 29, who threatened them with a steering column lock and made threats to harm them.

Police attended and the man was charged with assaulting a law officer and stalking or intimidating.
