Wrong time for robbery
GOLD Coast police chanced upon a teenager trying to rob a Burleigh Heads convenience store on Friday night.
Police allege the 16-yearold walked into the store on the Gold Coast Highway at 6.30pm and threatened the cashier with a torch taser, a type of flashlight stun gun, while demanding money.
The Tallebudgera boy could not have picked a worse time to attempt a robbery.
As he asked for cash police walked into the store as part of a routine check.
Police said they were able to take the boy into custody without anyone being injured.
The boy was charged with attempted robbery and unlawful possession of an electrical conductor device.
He will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
