Close wins in top-two hunt
COMPETITION is tightening in the Gold Coast Tennis League, with a string of narrow contests setting the scene for a dynamic run to finals.
Round 4 of the six-team format was played at Gold Coast Albert Junior Club yesterday, with Gold Coast Giants edging Tennis Plus Dynamite 55-52 in a thrilling conclusion to their open age showdown. Carrara Cougars also held off GCA Gladiators 69-46 while Beenleigh Blaze were just too good for Hinterland Hurricanes 62-47.
In the under-16 junior competition, the Giants again just got the better of Tennis Plus 49-37 and Carrara crushed GCA Gladiators 61-26.
Beenleigh Blaze did the job in beating Hinterland Hurricanes 51-34.
The results set up a thrilling conclusion to the competition, with one round remaining at Gold Coast Seniors Tennis Club this coming week.
The top two winners from each division then qualify for the finals on December 8.
