Ex-cop in hot water
A FORMER police officer is set to stand trial for allegedly revealing the identify of a drug informer.
James Alexander Walker pleaded not guilty in the Southport District Court to misconduct in public office to “dishonestly gain the benefit of Matthew James Dangerfield” and revealing the name of an informer.
In an unusual move, the jury of seven men and five women were told one witness would give evidence under a pseudonym in order to protect his identity.
The trial is expected to begin this morning after a day of legal argument yesterday.
