New sport to wrestle with

UFC interim middleweight champion Robert Whittaker is better known for his striking but the 26-year-old has shown his abilities as an all-rounder by qualifying for the Australian wrestling team for next year’s Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

Whittaker has won the 97kg division at the Australian wrestling trials, adding to his win at the Australian Wrestling Championships last May.

He has a possible UFC bout in February and would face a six-week preparation for the Games.
