LOOK TO THE STARS FOR THE BEST FOOD
A NEW Eat Safe program has been launched on the Gold Coast in time for the Games.
Eat Safe encourages high standards of food safety and gives visitors and locals an important guide to choosing a place to dine.
A food safety star rating — three stars being clean with good safety practices and five stars being exceptional — will be displayed by participating restaurants and food vendors.
Acting Mayor Donna Gates said similar programs had been implemented in other cities in Australia and around the world.
“When people come to visit us for the Games and beyond, we want to encourage them to look to the stars when deciding where to eat,” said Cr Gates.
“Eat Safe recognises excellence in hygiene and food preparation practices and helps our local hospitality industry provide the best possible visitor experience.”
