RIVALS THROWN IN TO BATTLE
Two of the world’s best para javelin throwers are set to go head-to-head on the Gold Coast next year.
Trans-Tasman rival New Zealand has named 22-yearold Holly Robinson in its track and field team for next year’s Games.
The Paralympic silver medallist will have Paralympic and world champion Hollie Arnold in her sights. The Walesbased javelin thrower recorded a world record 43.02m to defeat Robinson at this year’s world para-athletics championships in London.
Robinson and Arnold will compete in the F46 classification — single below or above the elbow amputee.
The integrated parasport program for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games will be the most extensive in Commonwealth Games history.
GC2018 will host up to 300 para-sport athletes and 38 medal events across seven sports, which is an increase of 45 per cent more athletes and 73 per cent more medals compared to the para-sport competition staged at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
