Mayor to face charges
QUEENSLAND’S Fraser Coast Regional Council mayor Chris Loft has been charged following a misconduct investigation by the state’s corruption watchdog.
It comes almost five months after revelations the embattled council was under investigation by the Crime and Corruption Commission over allegations of corrupt conduct implicating Loft. Last night, the CCC said a 66-year-old Hervey Bay man had been arrested on several charges relating to his time as mayor.
They included two counts of misconduct in public office, one of disclosing official secrets, one of wilfully disclosing information and one of computer hacking and misuse.
