Transgender path eased

FAMILIES, doctors and lawyers have welcomed a court decision that allows transgender children to have stage two hormone treatment, without court approval.

The Full Court of the Family Court decision means parents of transgender teenagers need not go to court if they and medical experts agree the children need treatment.

Gold Coast psychiatrist Dr Morris Bersin, who treats transgender adolescents, said the decision was years overdue.
