Baton on Gatton run

-

A DRESS rehearsal of the Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) will play out across the Great Dividing Range this weekend.

The simulation of the Commonwealth Games baton’s Warwick-to-Gatton leg will allow organisers and key partners to assess how aspects of next year’s nationwide relay will unfold.

“Volunteers, Queensland Police and our own staff (will be involved),” GOLDOC chief executive Mark Peters said after a four-day QBR workshop kicked off.

“People from interstate who are co-ordinating the baton relay through those states are also here ... they will be going through those towns and the intertwining streets exactly on the course the baton will be run on.”

The baton, which is presently in Tuvalu, will arrive in Australia on Christmas Eve.
