Commonwealth Games organisers have released stunning timelapse footage of Metricon Stadium’s transformation from footy ground to athletics hub.

Filmed from mid-October, the video captures hundreds of hours of work in a matter of seconds and can be seen at goldcoastbulletin.com.au.

The release of the footage comes as Games organisers turn their attention to Southport’s Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, which will host swimming and diving at next year’s Games.

“Fencing is starting to be put up around the Aquatic Centre (and) we are starting to see containers in one of the car parks,” Games CEO Mark Peters said.

“Those disruptions will start to happen around a number of our venues because we have to have them secure and operational by Games times.”
