STEVE Ward takes out the fish of the week this week with this great jack scored in the Nerang River just out the front of TSS. Conditions are perfect for jacks at the moment as the weather is heating up and we have the odd storm. Whether you are flicking lures or using live bait make sure you use heavy gear as you are likely to busted off if you fish too lightly. Jacks are regarded as one of the toughest fighting fish in the ocean and will use every trick in the book to snag you. The Nerang River is full of boats throwing lures at jetties and structures at the moment chasing these mighty fish, look for gravel patches or rocks in deep water holes on your sounder too and troll deep diving lures over. lbradnam@nine.com.au
