THE annual Vice Chancellor’s cocktail reception at Griffith University is an opportunity for Vice Chancellor Ian O’Connor AC to host academia, supporters and some of our business elite and say thank you for their efforts. Held in G’s Restaurant the relaxed gathering is also a chance for the professor to give one of his famous speeches highlighting the university’s achievements. Chief among those was the naming of Professor Emeritus Alan MackaySim as the Australian of the Year for his ground-breaking research into spinal cord injuries.
