CONGRATULATIONS to Westpac rescue helicopter volunteer Kathryn McKenzie, who performed her first aerial rescue recently.

Ms McKenzie, who is also a surf life saver, embodies the very best of the Gold Coast.

This city would not be the sparkling jewel in the crown of Australian tourism it is today were it not for the heroism of residents like Ms McKenzie, who give up their time to ensure the safety of others.

Not just those rescued – but all of us who live here – owe Ms McKenzie and her colleagues our gratitude.
