Gretel to pass on tips to Gen-Next
Supercars deny error on penalty
SUPERCARS officials have hit back at suggestions Scott McLaughlin was incorrectly handed a title-defining penalty for speeding in pit lane.
McLaughlin had been in the box seat to clinch the championship at Newcastle last month until being issued a drive-through penalty while leading the race.
From there, the Ford ace found himself in multiple collisions and ultimately missed out on the title to Holden rival Jamie Whincup.
His DJR Team Penske squad have questioned the speeding penalty based on their own data and arranged a meeting with Supercars officials, who yesterday defended their monitoring system.
“The Dorian timing system is a foolproof, point-to-point system with an accuracy to 1/10,000 of a second,” a statement read.
“As a fixed system with a time to distance calculation the data is 100 per cent accurate.
“For the complete avoidance of any doubt there was no error.”

ATTACKING star Gretel Tippett is hoping to inspire the next group of Queensland Firebirds at junior netball camps on the Gold Coast.
Tippett, a Coast product who started her netball with the Golden South Jaguars before becoming an international star, is one of a group of luminaries to hand on tips to budding Firebirds.
The Future Firebirds camps are scheduled for the Coomera Anglican College on December 11 and 12 (12 and 13-year-olds) and on December 14 and 15 (14 to 15-yearolds). Tippett (pictured) is to be joined midcourt star Mahalia Cassidy at the camps.
“There’s so much more to being a Firebird than you see on match day,” Tippett said.
“From fitness and skills work to diet and recovery, there are so many areas we need to focus on to remain at the top of our game.
“We’re really excited to share some of our tips and inspire the next generation.”
