‘FREAKS’ COME OUT TO PLAY

- KRISTY MUIR kristy.muir@news.com.au

PLAYBOY tycoon Travers ‘Candyman’ Beynon refused to let cops ruin the fun at his latest debaucherous mansion party.

Police shut down the party sound system about 9pm on Saturday but the tobacconist franchise owner was prepared, supplying 1000 pairs of headphones and turning the event into a “silent disco”.

Gold Coast police turned up to his Helensvale mansion after one complaint was made about the music.

Gold Coast model turned international DJ Brooke Evers, who performed at his Freaks Unleashed party, said Mr Beynon was fully prepared for the disruption.

“He got on stage and said ‘this party’s not gonna end’ but guests would need to whack on a set of headphones,” she said.

“And the crowd just went bonkers because we thought it was going to be shut down at 9.30pm.”

Ms Evers had an in-depth chat with Mr Beynon amid the “chaos” of the party and is excited by his “great ideas” for the future.

“I had a really good talk to him about his plans and what he wants to do next,” she said.

“Taking the party to other places, not just the Gold Coast ... getting it out there, the next city or the next country. (Travers) is so funny and interesting and he has the most unbelievable imagination.

“He obviously didn’t tell me specifics but he was like ‘I want to take this further’ and he’s had heaps of offers to get the party elsewhere. And I think that’s his plan.”

Guests, who Mr Beynon personally hand-picked, dressed in “freaky costumes” – and some wearing not much at all – partied until midnight despite the stormy and wet weather.

They were kept entertained by performers, a beauty bar, food trucks, fireworks, free drinks, and a goodies bag, which included a Candyman branded vape pen.

And Mr Beynon, who donned leather pants, a silver neck chain and freaky eye contacts, also entertained the crowd with his opening act which saw him “rip the heart out of the Pope’s chest” while he was surrounded by women in coffins.

He then walked into the party and the crowd parted just as the Red Sea did for Moses.

“That’s what the Gold Coast is about,” Ms Evers said.

“It might look a bit tacky from a far but when you look at it from my point of view, I was brought up in the performing arts, it is amazing.”

Ms Evers said the Freaks Unleashed party trumped the late Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Mansion shindigs.

“I have been to Playboy Mansion parties and they are not as good Candyman Mansion parties,” she told the Gold Coast Bulletin.

Guests flooded Instagram and Facebook with videos and photos of their shenanigans and outfits.

Paramedics were called to the party when a girl slipped down the stairs after the rain.

Mr Beynon’s representatives did not return calls for comment.
