GOLD COAST WRAP WITH UBET’S NICOLE THOMAS

-

WINNERS Holdin’ My Own (Race 1)

The biggest drifter of the day was the Les Ross-trained Holdin’ My Own ($1.80-$3.20). The promising 2yo debutante certainly lived up to her name, defying the drift and never looked in doubt. She showed excellent speed to lead, gave them the slip early in the straight and hung on for a nice win.

Super Shoes (Race 6)

Super shoes was fancied at the massive odds of $34 and punters crunched her in to $16. The 4yo was up against it, over-racing in second last position with plenty of work to do. He steadily made ground on the inside and with an uninterrupted run in the straight, managed to nab Capo Di Tutti in the final stride.

LOSERS

Cash’n’run (Race 3)

The 900m was one hundred metres too long for the Toowoomba visitor Cash’n’run. He was $3.10 out to $3.50 on the day but remained solid from his opening quote. He wasn’t the best away but hunted up on the rail and only got run down in the final stages, finishing sixth.

Snow Sparkle (Race 4)

Punters were heavily invested on Snow Sparkle, shortening her from $3.10 in to $2.40. The 4yo mare was given every possible chance by Ryan Plumb, settling her in the box seat third on the fence. Devastatingly for punters, she had nothing left in the tank inside the final furlong and was never a winning proposition.

NEXT TIME

Baggio (Race 3)

Punters didn’t want a bar of Baggio and the 5yo drifted ferociously from $4.80 out to $8.00. Even though he finished in fourth place, it was a muchimproved performance. He jumped well, couldn’t cross them so drifted back and got posted three/four deep. Despite the tough run, he made up an enormous amount of ground from a long way back.

Remember You (Race 5)

Punters patiently waited until race morning to unload on I Remember You, crunching the mare from $6.50 in to $3.30. It was an eye-catching run after getting posted out three-wide without cover. After covering so much ground she had every right to weaken late but instead came at them strongly on the line. Huge run.
