A MAN has been arrested after police found him in possession of amphetamines and $2245 cash following a high-speed pursuit which resulted in the driver colliding with a truck at Tugun and fleeing on foot.

The passenger, 40, who was bitten by a police dog when he tried to evade police, has been charged with possession and has refused to give the driver’s name to police.

A Tweed Byron District Target Action Group officer attempted to stop the Holden Barina sedan on Chinderah Bay Dve at 10.45pm on Saturday when the car failed to stop.

The chase continued on the Pacific Motorway north bound reaching speeds of up to 170km/h into the airport tunnel before police terminated the pursuit due to dangerous driving.
