Hurricanes horrors roll on

-

THE Sydney Sixers’ WBBL hex over Hobart has stretched to a seventh straight match as the Hurricanes crashed to a 0-3 start in the third edition of the tournament.

Looking to kickstart their campaign in their first match on home soil following a pair of road losses last weekend, the Hurricanes batters again flopped in a run chase at Blundstone Arena which has now put them seriously behind the eightball.

Sydney entered the contest having not lost to the home side in six attempts – having also sent Hobart packing from the finals in the past two Big Bashes – and on the back of star Ellyse Perry put an intimidating total on the board.

Perry’s 65 from 49 balls, containing eight fours and six, was the backbone of the visitors’ 8-152, with Sara McGlashlan providing the middle order spark with a 33-ball 44.

Hayley Matthews was the pick of the bowlers with 2-29, while she also produced two run-outs.
