‘IN YOUR FACE’ TOOWOOMBA TOIL PUTS AN EDGE ON TITANS
TITANS coach Garth Brennan is getting a crucial look at how his players handle duress in what must seem a world away from the beach lined city of the Gold Coast.
The NRL squad is in bushland near Toowoomba on a pre-Christmas camp.
There are 2.30am wakeup calls and they must carry water and food supplies to last them 36 hours.
“There’s a huge amount of weight to carry up this mountain, that was a tough challenge,” said Englishman Joe Greenwood, in his first full NRL pre-season.
“We had a huge huntsman spider (the other) night so I killed that and made sure that we are all safe on camp.”
Incumbent captain Ryan James said the camp had a different feel to those at Canungra in previous years.
“They are more in your face. This one is probably more like a team building one,” he said.
Players will be home in time for a Christmas break before returning to training on January 3.
