MARLIN IN FINE FORM

-

THE Gold Coast has turned on one of the great weeks of marlin fishing anywhere in the world in the past week.

The best I heard of was former Brisbane Bronco great Corey Parker and his mates tagging and releasing seven small blacks in one day but many boats have had multiple catches and this week the awesome news is it should get even better.

The grounds off Jumpinpin bar have probably been the most successful but they are also the busiest with hundreds of boats out trying their luck.

The truth is you’re as good a chance of scoring one on the 36 fathom grounds and off Nine Mile as anywhere else.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that the first small black of the season was caught in our waters and now all of a sudden they appear to be everywhere, so what has happened?

The answer is pretty simple: they have followed the bait here. The question now is how long will they stay?

The answer to that is “as long as the bait stays” and that
