Burleigh up again
SURFING Queensland has announced the famous Burleigh Pro will return in 2018 in a big boost for local surfers.
Some of the best surfers in the world will converge on the Gold Coast to compete in the World Surf League Qualifying Series event, to begin on January 25.
The competition will offer up 1000 QS points for surfers who hope to secure their place on the following Championship Tour.
Surfing Queensland CEO Adam Yates estimated over nine countries to be represented in the men’s and women’s fields.
“The Burleigh Pro has always been one of the biggest and most exciting events on the Surfing Queensland calendar,” Yates said.
“Next year we have made some major changes to the site precinct as well as adding lots of entertainment that will really benefit both the competitors and the wider community.”
