PATTERSON’S DREAM TO SHINE AT HOME
A home Commonwealth Games means a lot to most Australians but to para swimmer Lakeisha Patterson it will mean an opportunity to thank her biggest fan.
The Queenslander, who just finished Year 12 last month, will be out to make the Australian swim team to acknowledge her mother’s contribution in her career.
“My mum had to raise myself and two other sisters on her own whilst driving us to sport, swimming lessons, massage and hospital visits for me,” said Patterson (pictured).
“She has given up so much to allow her daughters to be able to succeed and without her I couldn’t have made it to where I am today.”
