Only exception I can think is the Pacific SLC who used to refuse to have pokies. A true volunteer SLC ... not a money making machine masquerading as one

Would any clubs survive today if it were not for the money they make in the restaurants and gaming and drinking areas? My opinion ... no. They would fall into disrepair and the club would collapse.

This place is just an extension of the Casino. It has no bearing what so ever to the original idea of surf live saving. Usual GC council ignoring any semblance of the town plan

These “clubs” are granted an extraordinary privilige by being the ONLY business that can set up directly on the beach, sell food, alcohol and have poker machines all while passing themselves off as a charity and claiming Tax Free status.

Good on the club and members. Without surf sports you won’t retain members to do the patrols. So all the arm chair experts get off the couch and stop being negative!.

They can spend $15mil on this and yet still rattle the tins for donations. Yeah right.
