GOLD COAST WRAP WITH UBET’S NICOLE THOMAS

-

WINNERS

■ Dixyville (Race 2)

Punters launched at the $21 UBET offered up for the promising three-year-old filly Dixyville and she started $8.50. This was only her second race start and it was an impressive victory. She came from second last on the turn and stormed home to head the leader in the final furlong.

■ Dream Master (Race 6)

Dream Master was by far the best win of the day and punters certainly predicted his success, as they snatched $13 early and shortened him in to $3.90 by the jump. It was a masterful performance by the 4yo as he jumped well, led and careered away in the straight to win by five lengths.

LOSERS

■ Charming Prince (Race 6)

Nothing was ever catching the superior Dream Master but Charming Prince’s performance was still underwhelming. There was no shortage of punter support ($5.50 in to $3.10) for the 3yo but he was slowly away, hunted up on the fence and went backwards in the straight.

■ Lord Of The Dreamz (Race 4)

In a monumental price plunge, Lord Of The Dreamz was crunched from $4.15 (after deductions) in to $1.80. The fouryear-old was keen to hold the rail in the initial stages, lost ground mid-race but still looked competitive in the final 200m. Unfortunately for the hundreds of punters who were invested, he couldn’t sprint with the winner and ran an honest third.

NEXT TIME

■ Captain The World (Race 6) There was no tip around for Captain The World and he drifted from $9 to $13. He’s a horse worth following despite being beaten by almost five lengths. The four-year-old was four wide early and dragged back to second last. He then had to come wide into the straight, rolled back to the inside and finished well for second.

■ Raven’s Wing and Che Bella Vita (Race 3)

Although Raven’s Wing ($5 out to $11) made up good ground down the outside, her chances were dashed when she badly missed the start. There was another hard luck story in the same race with the heavily fancied Che Bella Vita ($5.50 in to $2.25) copping a massive check, losing ground then overracing. Despite the interference she hit the line well and wasn’t beaten far.

■ Charlie Cat, Round Mountain Gem and Magic Alibi (Race 3) Round Mountain Gem was a punter favourite ($17 in to $8) but it was a completely different story for Charlie Cat in the same race, who was unwanted ($3.80 out to $8.50). Both runners had similar hard-luck stories when trapped wide without cover, before finishing well, within two lengths of the winner. Also keep an eye out for Magic Alibi ($5.25) next time. The Star Witness mare hit the line well for third after coming wide around the home turn. BIG BETS
