Police fear dopey crims

POLICE are warning of an impending crime wave in California as cannabis becomes legalised there.

The law, which came into effect yesterday, makes the state the most populous in the US to sanction the drug for recreational use.

But in Los Angeles County, officials are expecting an increase in the number of people driving while under the influence, as well as burglaries.

LA sheriff Jim McDonnell said he believed legalisation would be “eye-opening”.
