CAUSE FOR OPTIMISM

-

1 YOUNG GUNS FINDING FEET: Despite team results, there have been some promising individual campaigns to indicate progress. Bryant and Houlahan are averaging roughly double what they had been before this season while Nathan Lyons has established himself as a workhorse paceman. 2 STALWARTS RETURNING: The Dolphins have been without regular key players Nick Stevens and Josh Arnold for a large chunk of the pre-Christmas season due to injury. Having been pencilled in for returns to action in January, the pair’s experience and class 3 cannot be welcomed back soon enough. REPRESENTATIVE ACES: The club are keeping up their reputation of being a pathway for producing stars. Along with Michael Neser featuring on the Big Bash stage, Bryant and Xavier Bartlett are about to represent Australia in the under-19 World Cup. Bryant and Kuhnemann 4 also made their JLT Cup debuts. FRESH FACES: Those selection call-ups have contributed to the Dolphins needing to use 22 players so far, giving plenty of different names a taste of the top grade. Among the debutants have been Maladay, Eric Denhartog (left), Josh Kann, Jack Kann and Mitch 5 Daly. FIREPOWER: The Dolphins do possess genuine danger men in their batting line-up. When they get going they will be a hard unit to stop, as evidenced in their two limited overs wins – both set up by scoring massive totals.
