- KATE PARASKEVOS

A “HARD-WORKING” man from Coomera is the Gold Coast’s newest millionare after winning more than $1.4 million in a division one Gold Lotto prize, joking the “awesome” surprise win might entice his ex back.

The overwhelmed man admitted he was stunned to discover he was one of the Gold Coast’s two division one winners from Saturday’s Gold Lotto $30 Million Megadraw after a Labrador woman also won a $1.4 million share.

The man, who wished to remain anonymous, bought his ticket from Newstyle Chevron Village at Chevron Island.

He told a Golden Casket official he had “no inkling” he held a winning entry until he went to check his ticket.

“That’s awesome,” said the man when his win was confirmed. “I had no idea, I had a day off so I thought I might as well check my ticket.

“I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to think about it, it’s just a bit much at the moment.

“Does my ex want me back now?”.

He confessed he didn’t know exactly how he would use his windfall, but said it would “definitely speed up my retirement plans”.

Newstyle Chevron Village staff member Angela Donnelly said the outlet was still on a high from selling its first division one winning entry since it opened five years ago.

“Hopefully another big win is just around the corner for our customers,” she said.
