Early alarm for guests
A GOLD Coast resort was evacuated early yesterday morning after a car fire in the underground carpark.
Four fire crews attended the Turtle Beach Resort in Mermaid Beach after reports of a fire in the basement carpark.
Firefighters confirmed smoke coming from the carpark around 5.30am where they found a car on fire. They were able to extinguish the blaze and searched the surrounding area and stairwell to ensure nobody was injured.
They ventilated the carpark and stairwell before allowing guests to return to their units at 6.10am.
